the next novels!
April 14, 2016My next two novels are both love stories: one set in Edwardian England between a younger and older man, the second the beloved courtship of the poets Elizabeth Barrett and Robert Browning.
ROBBIE: AN EDWARDIAN LOVE STORY. In the English countryside 1900, a shy young painter called Robbie falls in love with Anton, a brilliant man in his thirties who is running away from his troubled past. Set over a period of several years during the early persecution of same-sex relationships, their intense and often difficult love will change them in ways neither could expect and allow them to grow into the remarkable people they will become.
ELIZABETH's SONNETS. In 19th century London, Elizabeth Barrett has not left her wealthy father's house in several years, imprisoned by an illness no one can diagnose. When the writer Robert Browning comes to visit, he falls in love with her and her brilliant poetry, and gradually begins to understand that he must coax her from the strange fears which hold her in her room: her unmarried sisters and brothers who need her, her secrets of loss, death, guilt, abandonment and her dangerously controlling father. Falling in love with him, Elizabeth begins a series of love sonnets which she shares with no one. But can she overcome her fears enough to regain her health, elope with him to Florence and become the poet she has always meant to be? And can Robert rise above his own many difficulties to successfully make a life for them?
